Autumn Hedgerow

img_6081

Out collecting autumn flora from the hedgerow this afternoon for imprinting into new series of clay tiles. Got a selection of cow parsley and rosehips.  I love the cow parsley skeletons at this time of year – so stark against the sky. A complete contrast to the frothy Lace In The Lane in the summer. Smell of dampness and a chill in the air.

Mosaics and Wellbeing with NHS

Preparing materials for my Mosaics and Wellbeing sessions with NHS and Artshape. Really excited about this new project. I will be working with learners on creating mosaic birds and using Dr Mark Williams’ mindfulness and relaxation techniques built in to the creative sessions.

TEA IN THE GARDEN

Sitting in the garden in the late September sunshine with my cup of tea and remembering this charming poem as the summer light fades – thoughts of the quintessential English teatime….

To be taken at four, if the sun does shine – and the rain doesn’t pour. Cucumber sandwiches sliced like a dream, brown boiled eggs and then cowslip cream. Strawberry ice and fresh lemonade, pale china tea all out in the shade. And if there’s room, do not, forsake at least one slice of home made cake….

Friendly Village

Found a Johnston Bros plate in my new box of china. Thought this makers mark was really unusual. Scene on the other side of the plate is of a light filled cottage on a winters evening in the snow. Thoughts turning to darker evenings and getting cosy…….

Me Old China

Picked up three crammed boxes of delightful assorted china today. Love finding new patterns I haven’t seen before and old familiar ones too. Selected a particularly nice black and white Spode Botanical plate for the delicious Victoria Sponge we consumed this afternoon at the studio!bw-spode
